The Galliard String Quartet will hold a FREE concert next Monday, March 15, 2010, at 12:00 pm in the Elections Building at the OCET complex. The performance will be an informal, bring-your-lunch, mini-concert that is an educational outreach on the part of the ensemble.
Founded by Chamber Music Hawaii in 1982, the Galliard String Quartet is
Hawaii's premiere string ensemble. The members are also full-time members of the Honolulu Symphony. Their repertoire spans the centuries and the globe, from Bach to Skalkottas to music by Queen Lili'uokalani.
Since 1982 Chamber Music Hawaii has presented the finest resident professionalchamber music in Hawaii, featuring three ensembles - the Galliard String Quartet, Honolulu Brass Quintet and Spring Wind Quintet. In addition to the concert series, each ensemble presents educational performances in Hawaii schools around the state. The ensembles also collaborate in a Tresemble that features a variety of repertoire for mixed instrumentation, which is frequently overlooked in many concert series. Chamber Music Hawaii has appeared throughout Hawaii, mainland U.S.A., Europe and Asia.
