Congratulations to Our New Bookstore Manager

Congratulations to our new Bookstore Manager, Noel Mock. He has been serving as our interim Bookstore manager since Jolynne retired last December. He received his confirmation letter yesterday, May 4, notifying him of his position as the new official Manager of the Kauai Community College Bookstore. He shared his joy with the campus by letting everyone know.

In his email he wrote, "Thank you for all of the support you have given me in my interim status, and I will
work hard to continue providing the service that the Bookstore is known for! Mahalo nui loa!"

KCC 45th Annual Commencement, May 14, 2010

The Kauai Community College 45th Annual Commencement exercises will take place Friday, May 14, 2010 at 6:15 pm in the Performing Arts Center. 214 students from Summer 2009, Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 will be receiving degrees and certificates. This year's Commencement motto is "Sustainability is good: self reliance is better", showing a strong alignment of the students, faculty and staff of KCC, and of our Keynote speaker this year, to self-reliance and a commitment to the future.

Our keynote speaker is Ben Sullivan. He grew up on a river in the woods of Massachusetts and first came to Kauai when he was nineteen. He completed a degree in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1995. He is a husband, father, gardener, architect, writer, activist, and dedicated member of the Kauai Community. The focus of Ben's work, whether it be in energy, food, politics, or building, is in helping to seek a transition from global to local for our island community.
