Chancellor's Corner: Mahalo!

A big mahalo to all of you! We've made it through another year and what a year it was! Despite record enrollments and lower funding, you managed to make it an incredibly successful year thanks to your dedication and hard work.

For those of you leaving for the summer, please enjoy your time off and take time for yourself! For those of you who will still be here, let's take a collective deep breath before we plunge in again!

KCC is truly an amazing place, and all of you are a huge part of what makes it amazing! Mahalo!

Charity Walk SUCCESS!

Thank you is just the beginning of my appreciation. This year's Visitor Bureau Charity Walk campus campaign has been a big success thanks to ALL of you and your support. Char and I attended the Charity Walk kick off in the beginning of April and a goal of $500 raised was set for KCC. Thanks to the many helping hands, charity walkers, car washes and giving donors, KCC has raised $1337.00! The nursing hall wall was filled with colorful slippers representing all the donations that came through KCC. Slippers will be up til Monday, 5/17, so come by and see them on your way to the retirement party on Thursday.

A BIG MAHALO goes to the following people for their gracious donations/campaigning. The charitys of Kauai will be very greatful come Saturday morning. Please give yourselves a pat on the back:

"May Day is Lei Day" is "Lomilomi Day" at KCC

May 01, 2010

The KCC professional massage therapy students delivered 58 hours of Lomilomi Massages on Lei Day in the Nursing Division at the college. The eighty-minute sessions were received by 43 of the faculty, staff, and community 'ohana.

Primarily using rhythmic movement of their hands, forearms, and bodies, the massage students enhanced wellness by improving circulation, reducing waste products and lactic acid, stimulating the lymphatic system, easing edema, increasing healing of injuries, relieving muscle spasms, increases metabolism and restoring vitality.

In addition to the physical benefits, the releasing of mis-emotions, worries, fears, anxieties and other limiting beliefs had profound results.

"Without a doubt, all the receivers floated from their sessions. Evaluations showed stunning results."
– Virginia Dunas, LMT, Massage Program Coordinator
