THE WORLD FOOD PRIZE is an internationally renowned award “recognizing the achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world.” Founded by Dr. Norman Borlaug, the World Food Prize is considered one of the highest honors in agriculture and food security. The Kauai Community College Plant Bioscience Technology program will be hosting a series of educational events during the week of October 16-18 in honor of the World Food Prize. Please join us for a live webcast of the 2013 World Food Prize Laureate Award Ceremony on Thursday, October 17th where the 2013 World Food Prize will be awarded to three international scientists, Marc Van Montagu of Belgium, and Mary-Dell Chilton and Robert T. Fraley of the United States for “their independent, individual breakthrough achievements in founding, developing, and applying modern agricultural biotechnology.”
Accompanying the Laureate award ceremony will be the Borlaug Dialogue International Symposium, which will take place from Wednesday, October 16th – Friday, October 18th. We will also be broadcasting live webcasts of most of the Borlaug Dialogue International Symposium talks all week. The focus of the 2013 Borlaug Dialogue is: “The Next Borlaug Century: Biotechnology, Sustainability and Climate Volatility.” Please join us for live webcasts of the Borlaug Dialogue International Symposium to learn more about agricultural technology, food security, and sustainability.
