Aloha,
Kaua'i Community College is participating with The University of Hawai'i in the annual Hawai'i State Employees' Food Drive. The collection of funds and nonperishable foods on our campus is from now until April 16, 2010. All donations collected at Kaua'i Community College will support our local Kaua'i Food Bank, which has the following mission: "Provide food for the hungry, respond to emergencies, and eliminate Hunger".
Kaua'i Food Bank will have their brown paper bag in The Garden Island Newspaper, Wednesday, February 24, 2010 edition. Please consider filling the bag and dropping it off at our campus collection site located in the LRC lobby. A box will be on the table at the entrance of the Library for collection of any nonperishable food items. The following is a list of the 8 most wanted items:
Rice
Canned Tuna
Pasta
Ensure/Pediasure
Canned Vegetables
Canned Fruits
Peanut Butter
Canned Soups
Please bring your cash or check donations to me at the circulation desk in the Library, or give me a call at extension 233 and I will gladly pick up your food and/or monetary donations. If you would like to make a donation using a credit card, call me for instructions.
Thank you in advance for supporting this worthy cause that helps to serve the needs of Hawai'i's children, elderly, homeless, disabled and working poor families. I'll be sending updates during the collection period.
Mahalo,
Regina Ikehara, Library Assistant
