La Ku'oko'a Lecture Series

Ka'ie'ie: How Diving into Our Past Will Give Rise to Our Future.  Hawaiian language and culture are as deep as the waters surrounding our islands. By understanding our history, whether through research or oral traditions, we empower ourselves with the knowledge our kūpuna gifted to us as part of the great legacy that is the Hawaiian Kingdom. For the Hawaiian Kingdom was more than just a government, it was a sovereign people, language, land, culture and life. Through this presentation of history and music, we will discuss the important historical relationship between O‘ahu and Kaua‘i, and more importantly discuss how these islands can work together to empower our collective future.
