Violence Awareness Activities

Kaua'i CC Students:
Did you know that 9 our of 10 rape victims knew their attacker?
Dating Violence and Stalking is more common than you think . . .

You are invited to VIEW some short videos and to ENGAGE in a discussion about what you can do for yourself or what you can do to help a friend in an abusive relationship. All films will be shown in the Electronic Technology Bldg, Room 114 (auditorium-style seating). Learn more about how you can become part of the solution to a serious social problem.

     WED, FEB 1, 12:00-12:50 p.m.
     "Breaking the Silence" (20 min)

     THUR, FEB 9, 12:15-1:00 p.m.
"Culture of Silence: Stalking Awareness" (20 min)

     THUR, FEB 23, 12:15-1:00 p.m.

Descriptions of these films are located in flyers posted around campus and at the LRC's Circulation counter.
If you need special accommodations please contact me ahead of time.

The PVAW Task Force will also be sponsoring a Red Flag Campaign on February 14-16 in the LRC Lobby area with our community partner, the YWCA of Kaua'i. It is similar to the Clothesline Event held in October. Instead of t-shirts we will have red flags and cards to decorate with messages relating to warning signs in relationships. The Red Flag Campaign draws attention to dating violence and what bystanders can do to help friends who may be involved in an abusive relationship.

What was your red flag? (write your message on either a card or flag) Thank you,
