Congratulate the Culinary Competition Students; Plus Demos 10 AM, 12/15
We are happy to announce the results of our Culinary students who competed last Friday in the Student Culinary Expo at Kapiolani CC.
This was an American Culinary Federation (ACF) sanctioned Food Show and Competition judged by three Certified Master Chefs (CMC).
There are only 60-75 CMC's in the United States!! The students (and their coaches, Chef Martina and Chef Nakata) went through an intensive 8 weeks of planning, training and execution after school in order to prepare for this event.
The competitors were:
Will Hudson, Gold Medal, and First Place-Hot Food Category
Kai Lopez, Silver Medal, Judges Choice-Hot Food Category
Joshua Planas,Silver Medal, Third Place-Hot Food Category
Kell Nonaka, Bronze Medal
Ken Morikawa, Certificate of Participation.
If you'd like to see these award-winning students in action, they will be holding a demo at 10 am, this Saturday, December 15th at the KCC Farmers Market.

Winter Recess Hours (12/17-12/31)
There will be only limited services during the Winter Recess, December 17 to December 31, 2012 (Jan 1 is a State holiday):
1. Learning Resource Center will be closed.
2. Wellness Center will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on only December 19, 21, 26, 28
3. Admissions and Records will be closed.
4. Financial Aid will be closed.
5. Business Office will be closed.
6. Testing Center will be closed.
7. Counseling will be open December 17 to 24, by APPOINTMENT ONLY, 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m., by calling 245-8212.
Note: The first floor of the One Stop Center will be stripped and waxed from December 17 to December 21, so the front and back entrances will be closed. Use the side entrance on the left (as you face the front on the One Stop Center). Notices will be posted directing you to the Counseling entrance.

UH To Host Top FBI Cyber Security Expert (12/10)
One of the FBI’s top cyber security experts, Deputy Assistant Director James Burrell, will share the FBI’s perspectives on current threats and investigations as related to higher education institutions during a live presentation at University of Hawaii at Manoa on Monday, December 10, 2012. The one-hour presentation will originate from Kuykendall Hall Room 201 at 11:30 a.m. with broadcast over the Hawaii Interactive Video Service (HITS) network to sites on seven UH campuses. Seating is limited so early reservations are recommended online through the IT Security section of the Information Technology Services (ITS) training site at http://kuhi.its.hawaii.edu/training. A UH Username and password are required for reservations. Please contact UH Information Technology Security Officer Jodi Ito at 956-2400 if you do not have a UH Username. Mr. Burrell currently serves as the Deputy Assistant Director of the Cyber Division Section at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC.
